Yes, you can grow a luffa as in an exfoliating soap scrub. (You'll have to add your own soap) but it's biodegradable and sustainable, and picked young, some people find it edible. But let it dry on the vine and you'll have your own soap scrub, use it for all kinds of things; home spa, feet, or in the kitchen.
Space plants 18-24" apart with rows 6' apart. Wider spacing allows for easier harvesting. Plant/harvest radish prior to planting pumpkins can help for some insect control.
