Beefsteak Tomato

$3.50Price

(90 Days) Indeterminate. Also called Ponderosa Red.This old fashion classic tomato usually reaches 1-2 lbs.

The history of the Beefsteak tomato and all beefsteak tomatoes leads back to a wild tomato the Aztecs found.  They named it "magic" because it was bigger than the other tomatoes (they were berry sized).  That's when Hernando Cortez came on the scene and took some back after his 1541 conquest.  Many large tomatoes were bred because of the Beefsteak tomatoes. The rest is history, or herstory. (Tomatoes are botanically female.)
